We seek self-motivated candidates to work as Energy Assessor – Field Sales Representatives supporting Toronto’s Small Business Program (SBP). The Small Business Program is part of the province-wide Save On Energy initiatives and helps businesses identify and retrofit inefficient lighting and non-lighting measures. The program offers a free assessment with up to $3,000 in efficient lighting incentives and up to $2500 in efficient non-lighting incentives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • We seek outgoing individuals who are passionate about energy efficiency to join our team as Field Assessors. The role will incorporate outreach and a sales-based approach while conducting audits.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to engage small businesses in utility-funded energy conservation opportunities while travelling to small businesses.
  • Visit businesses based on a schedule that varies by city and where open time slots are filled by canvassing surrounding businesses.
  • Conduct walkthrough energy audits for the Save On Energy Small Business Program as a field program delivery representative in Toronto.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service record while presenting program information directly to small-medium business owners and their management, accommodating their interests, needs, and timelines.
  • Assessments will be completed for a variety of applications, including retail, restaurant, low-rise office, apartment, industrial, commercial, and institutional.

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education and/or relevant experience in the environmental sector is desired.
  • Outside sales experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Successful candidates must possess a professional demeanour and be comfortable leading a sales pitch, providing education, and canvassing business owners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service and interpersonal skills; highly organized with strong attention to detail, ability to work independently or as part of a team, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for working within the energy and environment sector.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • The ability to speak multiple languages is considered an asset but not required.
  • Technical knowledge of lighting and lighting systems is considered an asset but not required, as this will be taught.

Compensation: The position offers competitive pay that includes piecework/commission
