Role:

Summerhill is currently seeking a Program Manager to provide direction and leadership for their respective project(s), who will be responsible for ensuring cohesive and consistent program delivery on time, on budget and on target, with a successful team and to the client’s satisfaction and within established quality standards. The Program Manager is responsible for project planning, implementation and close-out processes while delivering various project deliverables.

 

Accountability and reporting:

This role reports to the Vice President, Program Operations. The Program Managers are typically supported by project staff and other Summerhill personnel. This support team may include:

  • Program/Project Coordinators
  • Field-based Staff
  • Call Centre staff

 

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Manages the creation and execution of project work plans and revises them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
  • Manages the day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
  • Review deliverables prepared by the team before passing them to clients (internal or external clients).
  • Effectively applies Summerhill methodology and enforces project quality standards.
  • Minimizes organizational exposure and risk on project(s).
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Ensures project learnings and outcomes are captured and reported for future reference.
  • Provides direct supervision to all subordinate members of the Project Team.

 

Project Accounting

  • Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly.
  • Ensures project legal documents are completed and signed
  • Tracks and reports team hours and expenses.
  • Oversees the project budget, including monthly review and reconciliation
  • Understands project pricing model and billing procedures.
  • Oversees and ensures timely and accurate invoicing and monitors project receivables.
  • Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.

 

Business Development

  • Identifies business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project.
  • Share opportunities for project or client growth with the appropriate Account Director
  • Effectively conveys corporate message in both written and verbal business development discussions.
  • Develops project budgets for new project design based on knowledge of delivery and resource requirements
  • Supports with the development of proposals, presentations, project design and RFP responses.

 

Communication

  • Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
  • Hold regular status meetings with the project team.
  • Keeps project team well informed of changes to project scope and plan.
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to project stakeholders and internal and external clients.
  • Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Manages day-to-day interaction with project stakeholders (internal and external customers, vendors, and other interested parties).
  • Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster ongoing relationships.
  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs.

 

Job Requirements:

Summerhill invites strong, bright, entrepreneurial candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Experience managing programs/projects
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of energy efficiency/building science, climate or low-carbon programming is preferred.
  • PMP, CEM, and/or CET certifications are assets but are not required • Strong business acumen, including problem-solving, planning, report writing and budgeting
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally, source information, and build relationships
  • Ability to work independently, remotely and as part of a dynamic team to meet goals and objectives with minimal supervision
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe with the ability to learn internal software and other relevant applications.
  • Effective and appropriate initiative judgement and decision-making skills
